THE BOY WITH GREEN HAIR

     There once was a boy

               a boy with green hair

A beautiful sort of green that would make you think of

summer picnics in the meadow

rolling hills in faraway places

the beginning of a fresh spring morning

But the boy couldn't see it that way

                                    he felt
alone

different

odd

strange

He searched the world over to find a way to get rid of it

                     his unusual green hair

took decadent trips to forbidden places

wandered along empty streets full of people

lived all his days in the dark of night

hid his emotions inside til they scorched and burned

One twilight, as he lay slumped against the jagged edge of a steep cliff transfixed by the troubled ocean waves, he heard a muffled sound coming from somewhere in the rocks down below.

There,  wedged in a crevice between two large stones, was a small beautiful bird with an injured wing, unable to free itself.

He slowly and gently picked up the tiny helpless creature and took it home.

Day and night, he nursed the little bird back to health, keeping it warm next to his body, feeding it small bits of crumbs until it could swallow, patiently tending to the broken wing.

Soon the bird could fly again on its own--and one day the boy set it free.  The bird flew in and out of view for days, finally settling on the top of the highest tree in the forest.

As the boy watched the bird in flight, something  caught his eye...

it

sparkled

shimmered

glistened in the sun

it was coming from the top of the tree

Curious, he hurriedly struggled to climb up to the top

slipping backwards at times

clawing and grappling onto snapping branches

losing and regaining his footing over and over

until he finally reached the peak

Holding onto the highest branch, he peered over the tip to see what was creating this beautiful glow.....and then bent down to look even closer

      when suddenly he gasped

it was the finest nest made of

deep red berries

intricately woven twigs

and

brilliantly colored strands

of

his own

bright green hair

CLAY

Like a piece of raw clay,

He holds me in His hands

smooths

shapes

softens the edges just so

He works purposely by adding just the right amount of

pressure

squeezing

constriction

needed to refine His artwork

 I

spin

turn

dip

twist

until I can barely catch my breath

finally

yielding

to

His

expert touch

succumbing

to the

hands

 of the Master

intricately sculptured

delicately molded

wonderfully made

a work in progress

I am a piece of clay

GUEST BLOGGER TODAY

Hi all...

Today I have arranged for a guest blogger...hope you enjoy...

hey, it's me...

her dog , Ruby

I guess she thought a guest blogger is where you just leave it open and hope someone comes to write something..

you know she's kinda new at this...

and hey, whatever it takes...is what I always say.

Just got up from a nap

Whatt??  You never had a bad hair day??

so here we are...

By the way, have you ever noticed how she is always talking about those pie in the sky things like love for all, hope, stars... yada yada yada

Poor kid... she means well...and all I can say is before she found that stuff she could be a real...

oh hold on, there's that bone I've been looking for

anthyhoth, whath thI wasth sthaying ith sthah bephfore sthe fhoundth thall sthath sthpiritual sthupff sthe thcouldt thbe tha threalf dooxzthy pto thdeal swithp

Ok I'm done... that was good

Yeah so,  she just seems happier and less stressed all the time.
Hmmm, come to think of it,  I might give that spiritual stuff some thought over my next nap---which is gonna be in about five more minutes.

Hey, did she tell you how she forgot me and left me locked outside the house last week?

I didn't think so

Well it started out as a great day. We had a little get together, some sun, swimming, food...yeah I was really enjoying myself

Next thing I know, everyone hops in their cars, lights go off, doors are all closed, and I am left out in the yard

and it was dark

I tried to bark a couple of times, but she was doing whatever it is she does in there

Man, my head was spinning so fast trying to keep those mosquitoes away...I thought I was gonna pass out

Bout half hour later, I'm sitting on the front porch settling in for the night, when all the sudden she opens the door and scares the you know what out of me

"Oh, there you are," she says, real nice like.

Yes here I am

So much for man's best friend

But hey, whatever it takes.

Oh and another thing, on behalf of all my fellow dogs--I don't think cats would put up with it--

You know when we lay on our back and you rub our belly?

Well it's undignified!! ok?!

I mean does that even look like a comfortable position to you??

I didn't think so..

Don't worry about it...how could you know?

And anyways, you know what I always say...

And another thing....

TRAVELING COMPANIONS

I can tell, when I first enter her house, that the news from the doctor isn't good...

She has traveled
a rough road over the past eight months

       so many

tests

treatments

procedures

other alternatives

too many to count

I've never seen anyone quite like her...

courageous

funny

tough but soft

ha! sometimes too independent for her own good

I've told her how much I admire her, haven't I?

 how she inspires me

how she has taught me so much about

dignity

perseverance

endless hope

maybe just pure will to survive

Her deep green eyes are not as bright today

      they seem          faded              distant

Were they like that yesterday?

Why didn't I see it?

She struggles unsteadily over to the sink, holding onto the counter to get there,
"These dishes have to be washed, so much cleaning to do."

"Here, let me do them.  I have some extra time today,"  I take the dish towel from her hands.  Our eyes meet briefly over the exchange--and she smiles.  We both know without saying a word.  It won't be long now.

"The doctor says he won't let me suffer," she mentions it casually.

"No, and I won't either."  I won't.  I will do whatever it takes and fight for you.

"Don't leave me, Teri."

"I won't leave you, don't worry."   But can I do it??  Will I be strong enough to

watch her

fade slowly away

take her last breath

close her eyes and dream forever?

As I began to scrub furiously at the pots, pans, forks, spoons, whatever I can get my hands on, the warm clear water washes and splashes...

Yes, I wish I could wash it all away...

your fear

pain

apprehension

loneliness

No, I can't take it all away but I know

Someone who can...

*Shouting they shall mount the heights of Zion,
they shall come streaming to the Lord's blessings:
they shall be like watered gardens
never again shall they languish.

Then the virgins shall make merry and dance,
and young men and old as well.
I will turn their mourning into joy,
I will console and gladden them after their sorrows,
and my people shall be filled with blessings.

Come, take my hand,  my friend

Together we will stay close

Together we will journey

Together

we embark

 on

 your

 road

to

Everlasting Life

STARS

I love to think of them as

glimmering

twinkling

sparkling

*
STARS

Some are

full of brilliance and color

illuminating the universe

lighting up the space surrounding them

a reflection of  the true

Light of the World

Others are

fading

opaque

dim

distant

lost in confusion

isolated but not alone

so close

but unaware

of the ultimate

Summit of Light

But all have the same

innate radiance

glow

beautiful light

 shimmer

potential to shine

So who are these

orbs of

perfect splendor??

It is people like you my friend,

just

You
